Family Sundays

NEXT UP

January 18 | 2-4 PM
Tradition and Transformation

Join us for the first Family Sunday of 2026 and discover how everyday objects tell stories about their origins, makers, and cultural meanings.

Take part in art activities inspired by ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ੇ ‘ਚ ਤਰੇੜ | sheeshe ‘ch thareṛ | a crack in the mirror, stitch on an embroidery wall, add hand-coloured patches to a canvas bag, and paint marigolds, whose yellow and orange colours are associated with spiritual energy, radiance, and prosperity.

Along the way, we’ll explore how the meaning of these objects changes as people move and as handmade items become mass-produced. The dance academy Apna Virsa Victoria (“our heritage” in Punjabi) will provide an additional layer of learning and connection to ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ੇ ‘ਚ ਤਰੇੜ | sheeshe ‘ch thareṛ | a crack in the mirror as they bring their educational, interactive performance to the AGGV.

Apna Virsa Victoria is a local Indian dance academy established in 2009. We aim to educate children, youth, and families about our roots and empower them to express their cultural pride in a creative way. We strongly believe in giving back to the community by sharing our talents and inspiring future generations to do the same.
