Harry HoodCanadian, 1876 - 1956

Harry Hood was born in Scotland and studied drawing and design at the South Kensington School of Art. He came to Vancouver in 1904 where he became a piano tuner but continued painting. In 1926 he became the owner of the Art Emporium which became a central hangout for B.C.'s avant-garde artists. Hood's work at this point showed the influence of French Impressionism.
