DescriptionThe harlot is now confined to prison (likely Bridewell Prison, a correction house for prostitutes, and petty criminals). The other female inmates mock her. One woman mockingly pulls on the lace of the harlot’s collar, winking at the viewer. What appear to have been beauty marks in past plates, now appear to be signs of syphilis on the harlot's face.Status
