Gilt Bronze Belt Plaque or Horse Adornment

A gilt bronze belt plaque or ornament that would adorn a horse bridle or saddle. The top surface is on intricate design (with the thinner parts having worn through - corrosion?) and there is a grey metal plate (tinned?) attached to the back with a piece of material (felt?) in between. The sides and ends of this rectangular shaped item are lightly scalloped, with detail at the corners, and the ends are rounded. There is a build up of some material that is green with corrosion and visible beneath the top surface.
